Volcanoes National Park is the largest and most frequented national park located in the northwestern region of Rwanda. The park encompasses an area of 505 square miles of rainforest and is encircled by five volcanoes in the Virunga Mountains: Karisimbi, Bisoke, Muhabura, Gahinga, and Sabinyo. Additionally, there are two active volcanoes, Mauna Loa and Kilauea, about 25 miles apart. In addition to Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda features many parks, including Nyungwe and Akagera National Parks, each offering distinct attractions. Despite being a small landlocked country, tourism is the predominant and rapidly growing sector in Rwanda.

The park offers several accommodations—budget, mid-range, and luxury—that are suitable and economical for every tourist’s financial plan. The lodge was specifically designed for guests visiting the park. Numerous activities are available at Gorilla Solution Lodge, including gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park due to the lodge’s proximity to the park, mountain climbing and hiking to volcanic summits, bird watching within the park, guided community walks in local villages, golden monkey tracking, nature walks in the forests, cycling, cave explorations, and cultural tours such as Iby’iwacu. A city tour in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda, offers numerous attractions, including the genocide memorial, Kimironko Market, and various other activities.

The optimal period for tracking gorillas in the Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda, occurs throughout the rainy season, specifically from February to March, July, August, September, October, and mid-December. The cost of a gorilla permit in Rwanda is $1,500. Rwanda is home to three tribes: Hutu, Tutsi, and Twa, each distinct in their characteristics, which enhance the appeal of safari tours in the country.
